A fresh take on the movie.
Always leery when they do a reboot of a archetype and RHPS is a big archetype to try. Filling some of the shoes from the original plays and movies was hard but they did find some good actors to try.
I'thousand viewing the movie every bit a Shadow Cast get thrust into the movie itself and get a chance to act it out like they did in front end of the screen. Ryan McCartan'southward Brad seems to prove my point as he overacts some scenes actually bad that it is good while Victoria Justice (Janet) is just correct overacting. For those who don't know, a Shadow Cast re-enacts the pic in front of the screen while it's being played. You can get some memorable performances by some of them.
I actually enjoyed Reeve Carney equally Riff Raff and Staz Nair'due south Rocky seemed more fitting than the original. Laverne Cox's casting was questionable to some for various reason just her vocal range on the songs and little tweaks to points in them added to her performance. The merely depression points, for me, were Adam Lambert as Eddie (needed someone a scrap stronger in that part) and Ben Vereen's Dr. Scott. Both hammed it up as well much and took abroad from the characters.
The best part was Ivy Levan's Usherette and opening to the movie. It kept to what Richard O'Brien wanted to have the original open with but couldn't. Her phonation and stroll along the way with the movie posters of the old B-movies mention in the song in the background were cracking to see. Tim Curry'southward appearance as the Narrator was nice and wish he was capable of doing a bit more only existence limited since his stroke. His caretaker stole his scenes at times especially during the Time Warp.

The original had a cutting edge to information technology that is difficult to be duplicated, simply a few stage productions have done exactly that. This REMAKE does non, casting Tim Back-scratch as the criminologist is down right sad equally his health has declined terribly and is obvious in this movie. The interim is technically well done, but the edginess that made it a cult archetype is gone. I haven't been able to lookout 30 minutes of it, and that'southward subsequently two tries. I wish I could become my money back from this 1.
And despite the producers insistence that it's 're-imagined,' it'south a word for word attempt to remake the original. Null to see hither, save your money and move forth...

Yes, it's not the original. Nothing and no one will ever supercede the original cast from 1976. But, the actors are great and it's presented in a slightly different way, with the usherette singing Science Fiction Double Feature, and an awesome cast - I mean Laverne Cox and Adam Lambert❣❓⁉️
I own it and recently watched information technology and the original dorsum to back, and enjoyed them both. A fun romp for certain!!

I am pitiful but it was just all wrong. Had I not seen the original and loved information technology mayhap this would have stood a take chances to keep me entertained but I doubt it. Bluntly speaking it seemed extremely low budget and the actors did not do the characters justice. Couldn't finish this movie and I'one thousand disappointed because I did want to love information technology being that this my favorite movie growing up.

Typically with a remake something is interesting or genuinely different which I notice that I tin can appreciate - non so much with this one. Although I was thrilled to see Tim Curry the music and interim did not alive up to the original IMO.

After reading all the bad reviews I was gear up to be disappointed. Don't await information technology to exist the same as the original because it is a completely different picture. My biggest complaint was casting for Magenta. She was horrible. Columbia was much better than the original.

This movie is a bit odd in that it'south not a straight up remake but it'southward also non an original rendition. RHPS: Let's Do the Time Warp Over again includes several nods and callbacks to the original flick. Despite that nonetheless information technology is very different and is able to stand up on its ain. The way I see it, this movie is a love letter of the alphabet to the original. It celebrates the parts that we've all come up to dearest, just also updates the things that needed updating. The comedy isn't played upward equally much, merely the characters are more developed. Considering much of the subject matter is no longer taboo it'south not equally much of a risk as the original, but that doesn't end it from going all out and presenting an entertaining story.
